The Bracelet
Design true to Scripture
So what makes the New Jerusalem Bracelet different? Crystal beaded bracelets are increasingly popular today – and especially for those that are Christian-themed. You can find bracelets that represent many of today’s favorite Scriptures. Each one that we have seen is a beautiful creation in its own way, reflecting the creativity of the designer and how he/she “sees” that verse or passage of Scripture it is meant to represent. While Amy did design the New Jerusalem bracelet according to how she “saw” Revelation 21, we feel our bracelet stands out in one most important way. Each bead (apart from the Sterling Silver) has significant Biblical meaning. For example, Rev.21:16(NIV) states that “the city was laid out like a square, as long as it was wide…”(many scholars concur that the city is shaped like a cube; perfect in every way). Verse 18 states that the city is “as pure as glass”. Verses 19-20 tells us that there are 12 “foundations” to the wall of the city – each being made of precious stones. Therefore, Amy chose to use cube-shaped crystal beads that corresponded to the color of each foundation given in Scripture. So each cube represents three aspects of the New Jerusalem - the shape of the city, the transparency of the city, as well as the colors of the foundations of the wall. We are also told there are 12 gates to the city, each made of a single pearl (Rev.21:21) which is the reason we have exactly 12 pearls in our design. We wanted this bracelet to represent this heavenly city that will one day be ours (21:7) with as much accuracy as possible*.
With that being said, it is our hope that this design will make for easy remembrance of Scripture and of the wonderful and precious promise we – His children – have of our heavenly home that we so eagerly await. (*Note: There are some stones mentioned in Scripture that we just don’t know the exact color. The colors for these crystals were obtained from information in the NKJV Study Bible and Smith’s Bible Dictionary.)
